Story told by Harvey Gabriel
This happened at the top of the cemetery hill in Kanehsatà:ke.
Two brothers were always drinking. So, one evening one of the brothers hitched his horse to a buggy and went down to the village at the hotel to drink. He left the hotel way past midnight, so going up the cemetery hill, when he got to the top of the hill, he noticed his horse pulled something heavy. Someone got in the back of the buggy: it was a man and he said to him, “If you drink one more time I will come and get you.” Well, the drunk got sober immediately.
This was the story he told. Well, that man never drank again and he became an elder in the church. And he is the one that got me to start read the scriptures in the church. And I read in the church for 43 years.
